I’d like to use this Dear Diary page to write about what I’m feeling and thoughts I’m having. I thought the best way to start that would be to answer 10 questions that I think are awesome. I always like to ask my husband random questions because learning new things about your lover is a wonderful and eye opening experience.
- Who are you most inspired by?
My mom. My mom is one of those people that truly have a heart of gold. She never thinks of herself when making decisions and always puts those she loves first. My favorite memory of my mom growing up that best describes her is when we were at a convenient store renting a movie (ahah that makes me sound old) and these 3 little kids were in there and the youngest asked the oldest if they could get icecream but the older kid said Mommy and Daddy didn’t have money for that. Without even skipping a beat my mom bought them all icecream like it was nothing and then we went back to deciding on a movie. A minute later their Dad came in to thank my mom and told her how much that meant to him and the kids and my mom just brushed it off like it was nothing, but to me it was everything. I try and base my life choices on being kind like her and I hope that one day my daughters have stories to tell like that about me. - When was the last time you did something you were afraid of?
Around 2 days ago when I started this blog! I had been feeling like my whole life was just about being a mom (which is great but you still need something for you as well) and I wanted something creative to do. I’ve tried crocheting and I love arts and crafts but I’ve missed writing and truly loved writing the travel blogs so I thought this would be fun! It’s also scary pouring your heart out to the world but if you don’t push yourself you’ll never grow. - What are you most proud of?
Currently? The fact that I got both kids to sleep within 10 minutes! It will only last 20 minutes before one of them wakes up but I’ll take the win while I can! (Please note I literally had to just run up to get the 2nd kiddo back to sleep as soon as I wrote that sentence) In all honesty I’m extremely proud of what my husband and I have accomplished together. We’ve traveled to beautiful places, had a fabulous wedding, bought a home, paid off debt and had 2 gorgeous little girls. We don’t make a lot of money but we work really hard and are smart with it so we’re doing pretty well if I do say so myself! - If you won $1,000,000 what would you do?
People say that $1,000,000 is nothing nowadays but I couldn’t disagree more. Obviously with $1,000,000 we’d have to keep working but our lives would change so much. If I won that money today I’d take our families on an all inclusive trip for a week in order to say thanks for everything they’ve done for us. I’d pay off our van. I’d pay off our house as quickly as we could (don’t want to get hit with a penalty from paying it off too early). I’d put $100,000 into a travel fund so that when we had the opportunity to see the world we could. I’d also love to use some of that money to take the girls backpacking around Europe when they were around 16 and 18 because I think that’s when they’d most appreciate the beauty and history that Europe has to offer. I’d fully fund their RESP (Canada’s educational savings program). Lastly, I’d put the rest of that money into savings and investments. By doing all that I’m assuming I could stay home full time with the girls and my husband could follow his dream of becoming a police officer. So to those who say $1,000,000 isn’t worth anything today, if you win it feel free to send it over here because I’ll put it to good use! - Where would you like to see yourself in a year?
I’d like to see myself happy. At that point I’ll be back at work and as excited as I am to go back I’m also nervous at balancing being a mom and working full time. It’s definitely going to be a challenge but I’m hoping that I handle it with grace and confidence. I’d also like to say I’m the author of a successful blog but we’ll see! - Where is #1 on your travel bucket list?
INDIA! I would love love love to see India and marvel at the Taj Mahal. I don’t know when I’ll be able to visit but I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it’ll be January 2021! I’ve already started saving for it! - How do you like to relax?
Does a Mother ever get to relax? I feel like being a Mom is so hard because even when you are relaxing you’re thinking of a million other things. Did I do the grocery order? Do we have enough diapers for the week? Did I buy a birthday present for the party next week? etc etc etc etc. However, when I do get 15 minutes to relax I like to light a candle, have a hot bubble bath and read a dirty cheesy romance novel. - What are you most afraid of?
Spiders. Other than that I’m scared that I’m not doing enough to make memories for myself. Day to day life gets so busy with 2 kids and I need to be better at hosting dinner parties, going on unexpected adventures, making time to meet friends for coffee (even though I don’t drink coffee.) I feel like things like facebook and instagram are making us lazy and not forcing us to actually be social, so I’m working on being better at that. - If you could make one change in the world, what would it be?
I’d make the world a kinder place. Life is tough enough and I just think that everyone would get along so much better if we all just showed a bit more compassion and kindness to one another. That’s why I try and smile at people I make eye contact with because it might not mean anything to me, but it could mean the world to someone else. - What’s your ideal date with your husband?
To be honest we’re not fancy when it comes to date nights. In fact we really love just going to dinner (lately our favorite place to go to is a Hot Pot restaurant because it’s delicious and it reminds us of our trip to Asia) and then out to a Movie. This allows us the chance to spend time together chatting and then also zoning out and just enjoy being entertained for 2 hours…plus anything that includes popcorn is a win.
That was fun! I hope you enjoyed getting to know me a bit better as we start this exciting journey as blogger and reader together.
